CostaFortuna and CostaMagica are a new class of ship for Costa.
CostaFortuna will be the line's new flag ship when she enters service in
November 2003. Sister ship CostaMagica enters service in fall 2004.
These ships are not only the largest in the Costa fleet, but the largest
ever Italian cruise ships, constructed at the historic yards in Sestri
Ponente where the Michelangelo, the legendary Rex and the Andrea Doria
were built.
With a capacity of 2,720 passengers, CostaFortuna and CostaMagica
contain a total of 1,359 cabins - 857 oceanview and 458 with large
verandas. The wide array of facilities includes 11 bars, four
restaurants, a theater extending over three decks, three swimming pools,
a casino, disco, ballroom and a gym. CostaFortuna's decor draws
inspiration from the legendary Italian liners that provided regular
service between Italy and the Americas. Architect Joe Farcus has
incorporated scale models of these historic ships into the style and
design of the CostaFortuna's various restaurants and other public areas. |
